Signal Chain: 1. Ten string Stick XG with PASV4 pickup (arrived just over a week ago). I've modified the four pickups by placing a 47nF capacitor directly across each one. This creates a tuned circuit with the inductance of the pickup coil, removing substantial HF, but also (I think) imparting slight resonance at (guessing) 1-3kHz. For me this corrects the "open" sound of the Stick. 2. 12dB/oct resonant synth filter (my own circuit). A stripped down version of the AFM-1 circuit, configured for low distortion (as low as possible). I used a TL072 (.003% THD) op amp to avoid integrating distortion in the feedback loop. Would have used something more exotic, but it's battery operated, so TL072 is the best candidate. I'm knocking off a lot of HF with this, and there's quite a lot of resonance. 3. Korg Pandora PX4D, performing compression, phasing, stereo echo and a smidgen of reverb. Thats the basic sound you're hearing. I recorded on an Edirol R1 as a 24bit wav, and then mastered using Audacity. Here I added a bit more compression, and then some good quality reverb (Freeverb).
